Fixing my Drafty Windows

As energy costs have increased in recent years, I have been looking at ways to save money on my utility bills.  Over the years I have been changing out my old incandescent lighting for compact fluorescent bulbs (and now LED bulbs), replacing my old appliances with newer and more efficient models, and I’ve changed over to low-flush toilets.  While these changes have made a big impact, I’m one of those people that feel that I could always do more.

One of the biggest changes I have avoided has been my windows.  They are the original windows that probably came over with the ark (yes, my house is old) and I know that they are drafty.  I had been saving up for a couple of years to make sure that I would have enough money to replace them, and this year will be when it happens.

In fact, it is happening later this week.

I had a contractor come out on Monday to give me a quote on windows replacement in Burbank and they will be out later this week to get the work done.  They figure that it should only take part of the day to replace the windows and then I’ll be good to go.

I can’t wait to see what the house looks like with new windows and how much money I will save on my energy bill.  I should not have waited so long to do this work.
